The APL is coming to Stuttgart. On November 25th, 2021 we will be on site as an employer and will show you the opportunities to join our team.
Also use the talentefinder app and get in touch with us beforehand.
Lubricating oil is increasingly seen as a construction element and is specifically adapted to the technical requirements of modern drive trains. In a joint project between Total and the APL Group, the influences of different lubricating oil formulations on emissions in a turbocharged gasoline engine with direct injection were examined. For this purpose, new methods combining dynamic measurement techniques and statistical analysis were used.
In order to establish battery-electric vehicles in the mass market, in addition to the further development of the battery cell, optimizations at the module and overall system level are also required. APL addresses this increasingly complex topic with a close integration of simulation and test environments. The challenges of battery development and the possibilities of the simulation tools used must be closely examined in order to meet each development task with the optimal form of modeling. …
Battery testing for BEV systems started at APL in 2009. Since then, our battery portfolio has grown significantly. The APL Group is your reliable and experienced partner in battery testing and development.
We are passionate about our customers’ development tasks across a wide range of battery-related issues. At the location in Landau, APL provides you with bundled expertise from the cell to the battery pack. Our team combines deep expert knowledge and uses our strong testing infrastructure to meet development goals:
Our analytics laboratory performs cell openings in a state-of-the-art glovebox for diagnosis and material analysis, and cells are also constructed or prepared according to customer requirements. In our cell testing facilities, battery cells are examined, for example: B. in terms of their performance, aging and swelling. Using pulse profiles and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, parameters for battery simulation are determined. We also develop battery simulation models of various levels of complexity in-house.
We continue via our module test field to testing at the battery system level. Through expansions to our existing battery testing fields, we have multiplied our testing capacities here in recent years. We are also happy to support you in the areas of construction, simulation, software/hardware development, BMS, EMC and application.
We are happy to provide our customers with comprehensive advice and support in projects. Fast charging strategies? Swelling? Thermal runaway and propagation? Gas analysis? Aging models? Direct cooling? – Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions, we have the right answers.blog-
APL has state-of-the-art roller testing centers at its locations in Landau and Bietigheim-Bissingen, which are suitable for a wide range of testing tasks in the passenger car and light-duty sectors. Certifications according to ISO 9001 and accreditation by DAkkS according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 ensure stable processes and ensure the highest data quality.
In addition to the worldwide legally required exhaust gas cycles, taking into account the respective prescribed boundary conditions, it is possible to display customer-specific driving programs (e.g. simulation of RDE driving, R2R, etc.) on the high-performance rollers. In conjunction with needs-based temperature conditioning (up to -35 °C) of both the test bench and the test object, you as a customer are guaranteed absolutely reliable transferability of the road measurement.
In addition, our roller dynamometers are equipped with extensive exhaust gas measurement technology, which enables the exhaust gas components to be determined not only in the diluted exhaust gas, but also in the raw exhaust gas at any point in the exhaust system.
Services we provide for you:
Preparation and follow-up of the vehicles for roll operation
Equipment of the vehicle with test parts: engine and exhaust system
Production of exhaust gas adaptations
Assembly/disassembly of tires, adaptations, suspension components, etc.
TISAX-compliant prototype protection
Role testing
for a wide range of drivetrain configurations (2WD, 4WD)
for current and future-oriented drive concepts (VKM, hybrids of all kinds, e‑traction)
according to global legal requirements (EU, EPA, CARB, China etc.)
for simulating road driving (RDE etc.)
Execution of control device data, emissions and accompanying certification
UN ECE R83
VO (EU) 2017/1151
COP review

Support development activities with special exhaust gas measurement technology in raw exhaust gas (particle counter, soot sensor, FTIR, etc.)
Our testing laboratories therefore offer the best conditions to support you in your development and certification activities with the highest quality, reliability and efficiency.
APL has its own logistics group with Europe-wide driving and delivery services for our customers. This means a high level of comfort for you. Why? Our service basically starts at your desk: Our fleet employees pick up engines, gearboxes or other test parts from you and bring them back to you after testing. You don’t need to worry about anything else, because we ensure reliability with complete confidentiality and smooth processes.
APL modernized its measuring room at its Landau location last year and equipped it with the latest technology. According to VDI guideline 2627, it corresponds to a fine measuring room of quality class 2. Our high quality awareness is reflected in the fact that experienced project engineers control our projects; technical know-how in relation to the handling of the parts to be measured is required here.
But what does that mean?
Temperature control of the components before measurement in the preconditioning room
Control and monitoring of temperature and humidity
Intercepting and dampening vibrations
Prototype protection: access control to the measuring room
Extensive experience in geometric measurement technology for the automotive industry
Our measurement tasks include:
Geometry measurement
Topography measurement
Wave measurement
Roughness measurement
Contour measurement
Weight measurement
Warpage and wear measurement
Labeling with laser device
Spring force measurement
Tangential force measurement
Timing chain measurement
Endoscopy
Laser scanning microscopy
By the way: We don’t just work for the automotive industry. We welcome all sectors.
